4/14

My first blog post!

I have been meaning to start a blog for a very long time but have been so incredibly busy in my classroom that I have put it off. I don't want to forget one thing that I do with my second graders before the year is over, so here I am

Welcome!

My name is Beth Crowley, and I am currently teaching second grade at Horace Mann Laboratory School in Salem, MA. I absolutely love teaching and it has actually been a very long journey for me. I was a recruiter for a long period of my life, and at the age of thirty-three, decided to go back to college to change careers. Becoming a teacher has been so completely rewarding and fulfilling. I am challenged every single day and there is never a dull moment!

I graduated in May 2014 from Salem State University after finishing my student teaching practicum at the Saltonstall Elementary School in grades 5/6. I had such a blast and I will never forget my experience there. I was paired up with the BEST teacher ever! In the fall of 2014, I was hired to fill in as a long-term substitute at Witchcraft Heights Elementary School in Salem where I taught Science to the entire 5th grade. I had never taught Science before so it was a brand new adventure for me. When the teacher I filled in for came back from medical leave, I briefly worked as a paraprofessional in the ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) program before moving on to a teach at Horace Mann.

I believe that every child is special and deserves the chance to learn. I believe in a Responsive Classroom environment, where we have fun, are accountable for our actions and treat each other with respect.

Welcome to Ms. Crowley's classroom!
